Red-and-Black-Wallpaper……….
“O, you foolish Galatians, who has bewitched you……”

The apostle Paul knew a thing or two about human nature and how easily men can be “bewitched” – or deluded. It seems as though, by design, man is naturally inquisitive and if left to himself will lean towards an ideology far from godly. Able to be seduced by the dark spirits of this age, man must diligently guard his heart and mind at all cost.

There is nothing new under the sun. Just as the church in Galatia had fallen prey to bewitchment, so too has the modern church.

To many, it would seem odd for someone to make the statement that witchcraft has invaded the church. Far too many believers have the false assumption that claiming Christianity exempts them from the subtle nuances of the evil one or his bewitching techniques. However, close examination of the average believer’s life often shows there is much more witchcraft in christendom than many would think.

witchcraftcommunication with the devil or with familiar spirits (Merriam-Webster online)

Communication between believers and the devil – or with evil spirits – happens every single day. Before your mind goes to the scary and dark world of seances, communication with evil does not have to take place under a black hood in the middle of a haunted forrest on a moonless night. On the contrary! Communication with demonic forces can take place even on a church pew! Just think about some of the services you have been a part of. How many times have you witnessed people speaking more to Satan and his demons than to God? How many minutes of a worship services have been stolen away by people rebuking and taking authority over the evil one – bringing more attention to him than he is worthy of? Yes! Communication with darkness happens all the time. Witchcraft is in the church.

In 1966 in San Francisco, California, the Church of Satan was established by Anton Szandor LaVey who is said to have admired and learned from studying the life and writings of Aleister Crowley – a.k.a.: the Beast, 666. Aleister Crowley is the author of The Book of the Law which holds as its supreme law, “Do what thou wilt, for this shall be the whole of the law.” In 1969, Aton LaVey wrote the Satanic Bible, and although it does not implicitly quote the supreme law of Thelema, “Do what thou wilt….,” it does use the supreme law as its guiding force when laying out the statement of beliefs for the Church of Satan. The basis of satanism in America is self-gratification – living for oneself and worshipping oneself as god. The guiding principle of “Do what thou wilt” is pervasive in satanic dogma and leads to the ideology that if something is right for you, then it’s right, no matter how it affects anyone else.

This mindset of “do what thou wilt” has persuasively inundated our cultural belief system and, sadly, has spilled over into the church. Believe it or not, many christians live by the very law of Thelema that was whispered to an evil occultist by a demonic spirit as though it were the voice of God. Just talk to anyone about lovingly confronting a brother in Christ who is caught up in sin and this is usually the response you will hear, “Well, that’s between them and God. If they are okay with it and if they feel God is giving them permission, then who am I to say anything?” You also might hear something like this, “That’s none of my business. Each man must work out his own salvation and if he feels good about it then it’s okay with me.” It seems as though we have raised a generation so indoctrinated by the philosophies of Satanism they can no longer decipher spiritual truths based on the Word of God. Television, movies, music, and literature have been infiltrated with the vile, self-serving creed of the demonic and the “bewitching” of a society has taken place. Even the “bewitching” of the church and it has render her powerless.

Friends, the Bible says that there is a way that seems right unto a man but in the end it leads to destruction. (see Proverbs 14:12) The Bible also says that we are not our own, but instead we are bought with a price of the precious blood of Jesus. (see I Corinthians 6:19-20) We are dead to ourselves and alive unto Christ. (see Galatians 2:20) It is not up to us to determine what is right for ourselves and it is not up to us to live as we please and to do “whatever we wilt.” The Law of God is in direct opposition to the Law of Thelema and satanistic philosophy must bow to the Supreme Law of Jehovah, God. It is up to us to keep watch out for our brothers’ souls and to lovingly confront them when their lives are taking a detour from the straight and narrow path that leads to everlasting life. (see Galatians 6:1) We are not to be seduced by the spirits who would have us belief that every man creates his own reality and that what is right for him is right because it is his right.

We are living in a crucial hour for the church and it is time we, followers of Jesus Christ, awaken from our slumber. It is time we, followers of Jesus Christ, break the spell. It is time we, as followers of Jesus Christ, come out from the cloud of delusion into the eternal light that illuminates truth and liberates the soul. It is time to cast off the spell and arise. Stop embracing witchcraft in the church. Cleanse yourselves and prepare, for the visitation of the Lord is at hand!
