new year2013……….
Ready or not, here it comes! Out with the old and in with the new. Another new beginning is upon us.

As we get ready to say goodbye to yet another year, I am reminded of what God said about life: “For what is your life? It is even a vapour, that appeareth for a little time, and then vanisheth away.” – James 4:14

The older I get, the more I understand this statement. To repeat an old adage: Time Really Does Fly!

Just the other day, my children and I were engaged in conversation when my son asked me, “Mom, how come as you get older time seems to go faster?” (I kind of chucked inside at his question because if he thinks life is going fast at thirteen, wait until He gets my age – it will be moving along at warp speed!) I am not sure I have an adequate answer to that question, but it is true that the older we get, the more we realize just how quickly life comes and goes.

As we close out another year and ebb ever closer to our final breath, I am reminded of the importance to make life matter. I believe it is time to hone in on what our purpose for being is, to seek God for the assignment He has for us while our vapor lingers, and be about His business before it is too late. Life is here only for a brief moment, and then it is gone. In the end, it is the aftermath of a life’s existence that really counts.

As 2012 comes to a close, it is a good time to reflect upon your life. Are you living each day doing things that will have eternal value? Are you using gifts and talents and abilities that God has given you for a purpose to enrich the lives of others around you? Or, are you living selfishly for vain pleasures? How will people remember you when you are gone? Will your life have affected and changed the world around you for the better, or will your life go down in obscurity hardly even noticed by the people you existed in the midst of?

Friends, your life can have real meaning and purpose! No matter how many years you are privileged to live on this earth, your life can have an impact on eternity! It is true. You can live in such a manner that ETERNITY is affected. Yes! You! Your obedience to the purpose God has for you can absolutely impact others lives for the Kingdom of God and in doing so, all of eternity can be impacted.

Do not go into another new year living in manner that doesn’t even signal there has been a mist emitted. Let your life be so hot for Jesus, that the wake of your existence changes everything your vapor touched!

Live out loud in 2013 and let your light shine a little brighter! Happy New Year!
