“Then he arose, took the young Child and His mother, and came into the land of Israel. But when he heard that Archelaus was reigning over Judea instead of his father Herod, he was afraid to go there. And being warned by God in a dream, he turned aside into the region of Galilee.” – Matthew 2:21-22 – NKJ

King Herod the Great, who sought to kill the Baby Jesus, died without ever having received the presence of God into his life. However, his story really doesn’t end there.

Herod had had three sons who divided his kingdom after his death; one of whom was Archelaus, the ethnarch (governor) of Judea and Samaria. Archelaus was a very tyrannical leader, so much so in fact, he was removed from his position early and banished to Vienne in Gaul where he died.

Now, I can’t be a hundred percent certain, but 99.9 percent, that if Herod had been different—if he had let the presence of God into his life—his son just might have been different too. You know, the people affected most by your running from God’s presence is your very own family…………..what kind of legacy are you leaving?
