“If anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.” – II Corinthians 5:17

Isn’t it great encouragement to know that when we give our hearts and lives to Jesus Christ He empowers us to make positive life change?

Christianity is not a badge of honor people wear like a branded title purchased or earned by continued positive choices and hard work. Instead, Christianity is a way of living – it is empowerment to make positive changes in one’s self and in the surrounding culture. Being a Christian goes far beyond “named identity”; it goes to “lifestyle identity”. Christianity is a way of living which is so contrary to the lifestyle of those who do not yet know Jesus that even without a word, Christ’s name is exalted and people begin to hunger for Him. (I Peter 2:12, I Peter 3:1, Matthew 5:16)

Friends, do not fall for the lie that says, “I don’t even have to change to belong to Jesus.” Sure, it is true that you do not have to change BEFORE you can come to Jesus, but you MUST change after you do. The good news is: He doesn’t expect you to make this change on your own. He empowers you to make the change. He gives you new life, a new heart, a new desire; the new birth regenerates you (re-genes you) and gives you a fresh start with life. Anyone who calls upon the name of the Lord will look different than they did before and they will behave differently than they did before. It is a progressive work that continues until one’s final breath. If you are not seeing change in yourself, maybe – just maybe – it is time to reevaluate your commitment level. Have you given yourself to Christ in name only or have you given yourself to Him fully. That simple decision WILL transform your life!
