“I call heaven and earth as witnesses today against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing; therefore choose life, that both you and your descendants may live.” – Deuteronomy 30:19

It is finally that time – a brand new year is upon us. Many of us are full of excitement and anticipation. Goals have been set, resolutions have been made, and people have entered into contracts with themselves about things they would like to see done differently in their lives this year. It is exciting indeed!

Change is ALWAYS exciting. To some it is scary and to others it is hopeful. To some it is anticipated; to some it is dreaded. No matter which side of the fence you fall on concerning change, the bottom line is: it is indeed exciting (to arouse an emotional response – Webster’s).

Friends, I want to encourage you, this year, to CHOOSE positive change. God has set before you an option – life or death. The choice is up to you. You can have life abundantly, full of His promises and blessing, or you can have death abundantly, full of heartache, pain, and cursing. How is the choice made? Let me show you from God’s Word, “See, I have set before you today life and good, death and evil, in that I command you today to love the Lord your God, to walk in His ways, and to keep His commandments, His statutes, and His judgments, that you may live and multiply; and the Lord your God will bless you in the land which you go to possess. But if your heart turns away so that you do not hear, and are drawn away, and worship other gods and serve them, I announce to you today that you shall surely perish…..” – Deuteronomy 30:15-18. The secret to “choosing” life is really very simple: CHOOSE to love and obey God. The rest will align itself. The choice is up to you. God will not force you to love Him. He will not force you to obey. He loves you enough to give you the option. What will you choose?
