“My sacrifice [the sacrifice acceptable] to God is a broken spirit; a broken and a contrite heart [broken down with sorrow for sin and humbly and thoroughly penitent], such, O God, You will not despise.” – Psalm 51:17 – Amplified

I believe God is tired of the games we play. I believe He’s tired of our religious “clubs” we call church and our religious “fronts” we call righteousness. I believe He’s looking for a people desperate for Him.

We can only be desperate for God when we come to the end of ourselves and realize we are nothing without Him. When we see that all our works, our righteousness, is nothing more than filthy rags to God, then we begin to hunger for more of Him in our lives.

God is not looking for a self-righteous people who believe they need no help from Him to be a Christian. He’s looking for those who know without His help they are going to fail. Being a Christian is more than doing…..it is being. Our sinful nature must be transformed into God nature, and this my friend, can only happen with His help. When we realize this, lay down our outward religious acts, and allow God to change our heart…..then, and only then, have we truly offered God an acceptable sacrifice.
